When Should I Go to the Doctor for a UTI?

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, urinary tract infections are the second most common infection type, accounting for over eight million doctor’s office visits worldwide per year. While mild UTIs can be taken care of at home in some cases, most healthcare providers recommend making an appointment as soon as you notice UTI symptoms. Symptoms of UTI include the following:

  • Frequent and intense urge to urinate.
  • Pain, discomfort, or burning sensation while urinating.
  • Cloudy or bright red urine.
  • Urine that exhibits a strong smell.
  • Pelvic pain.
