What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that is gaining popularity as an ant-aging treatment. It is performed on a patient's skin using a small handheld device that pricks the surface of the skin with tiny, sterilized needles. When the needles prick the skin, it stimulates the production of collagen and elastin below the skin's surface to be used to heal the skin. Our bodies naturally produce both types of cells, with production slowing down as we get older, and particularly once we hit 30. By stimulating the growth of additional collagen cells, our skin will heal on itself, with the added benefit of the collagen and elastin improving the overall texture, smoothness and appearance of the skin. Microneedling has been shown to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines through the body's natural healing process of fixing the microscopic holes left by the microneedles. Microneedling can also help with acne, hyperpigmentation or dark spots on the skin, scars, stretch marks, reduced skin elasticity and sun damage in addition to treating wrinkles and fine lines. Here at Rejuvenate MD we use Skinpen Microneedling because of its superior technology and glowing, stunning results.
