What Is an IPL Photofacial?
An IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) photofacial is a cosmetic skin treatment that uses high-intensity light to rejuvenate the skin and treat various skin concerns such as sun damage, age spots, fine lines and wrinkles, freckles, rosacea, and more.
During the treatment, a handheld device is used to emit light energy into the skin’s deeper layers. This light energy is absorbed by the skin, which then triggers the production of new collagen, resulting in a smoother, more even-toned complexion.
The IPL photofacial is typically performed on the face, neck, chest, and hands, and is considered a non-invasive alternative to traditional laser resurfacing or chemical peels. The procedure is performed in a medical office and takes about 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the size of the treatment area. The results are usually noticeable after a few days, with improvement continuing for several weeks after the treatment. IPL photofacials are considered safe for most skin types and require little to no downtime.
