Who Is the Ideal Candidate for Knee Replacement Surgery?

The ideal candidate for the Southern Approach, Outpatient, quad muscle sparing knee replacement surgery from the side, is someone who is usually still working, otherwise healthy, and has remained active despite their knee problem. They've had symptoms for several months or more and have usually already received treatment from other doctors, trying medications, injections, physical therapy, arthroscopy or previous knee surgery. Optimally a patient has a BMI in the 23-43 range and is motivated and healthy enough to move quickly through our rehab protocol and back to function.
