What Are PDO Threads?

PDO threads (Polydioxanone) are a type of suture commonly used in thread lift procedures and have been used by cosmetic surgeons for over 40 years. The hair-thin threads are made of a biodegradable polyester that the body breaks down naturally after about six months. While used for lifting the skin, PDO threads are effective at rejuvenating the skin by triggering cells called fibroblasts to produce collagen. Collagen is an essential protein our body naturally produces that gives our skin elasticity and structure. As we age, we lose collagen and produce less of it, leading to sagging and wrinkled skin.
