What Happens During a Breast Augmentation & Lift Procedure?
Breast Augmentation & Lift surgery combines the techniques of both procedures into a single, more extensive surgery. It's typically performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia. The exact steps will vary depending on the surgeon's preferred technique and your specific anatomy, but some general principles apply.
The surgeon will first make incisions strategically placed to minimize scarring. Common locations include the crease beneath the breast (inframammary), around the nipple (periareolar), or in the armpit (transaxillary). Once access is established, the surgeon will meticulously lift and reshape the breast tissue. This may involve tightening supportive ligaments and removing excess skin to achieve a perkier, more youthful appearance.
Following tissue sculpting, the surgeon creates a pocket behind either the chest muscle or the breast tissue to accommodate the chosen implant. The selected implant (silicone gel or saline) is then inserted and carefully positioned for optimal size, shape, and symmetry. Finally, the surgeon meticulously closes the incisions with sutures and applies dressings to complete the procedure.
