Thyroid Dysfunction
Inflammation goes hand in hand with thyroid dysfunction. In part, this has to do with the underlying cause of the thyroid condition: stress, nutritional deficiency, and autoimmunity. All of these factors can cause inflammation or be a result of inflammation. Therefore, pain and discomfort are common when suffering from a low thyroid disorder. One study found that even those with subclinical hypothyroidism who experienced very quiet symptoms had increased C-reactive protein and insulin levels.21 Both of those markers indicate systemic inflammation.
