What to Expect during Breast Lift Surgery?

General anesthesia or local anesthesia with IV sedation is usually used during a breast lift surgery. The Surgeon will discuss with you ahead of time and ensure your procedure is customized to achieve your unique breast lift results.

Incisions made during breast lift surgery depending on the amount of ptosis that needs correction:

- Periareolar incision - Incision around the edge of the areola; used to correct minimal ptosis.

- Lollipop incision - Periareolar incision that extends straight down the underside of the breast to the fold, creating a lollipop shape; used to correct moderate ptosis and recommended for most women.

- Anchor incision - Lollipop incision that also includes an inframammary incision, or incision along the breast fold; used to correct severe ptosis.

Once incisions are made, the excess skin and tissue are removed, and areolas and nipples are repositioned. The whole procedure usually takes between two to four hours.
