What Is the Difference between Physiotherapy and Physical Therapy?

For many people, the terms physiotherapy and physical therapy are used interchangeably. However, there are subtitles to each definition. Physiotherapy refers to a more hands-on approach to rehabilitation, such as stretching, soft tissue release and joint mobilization, whereas physical therapy refers to an exercise-based approach that helps to strengthen muscles, improve balance and retrain gait. They are often combined in the same treatment plan and work well in tandem.
