Job Description:

The Patient Care Coordinator/Medical Assistant is a crucial member of our medical team, entrusted with providing exceptional care to our patients. This full-time position offers opportunities for growth and professional development.

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Patient Care Coordinator/Medical Assistant to support our providers in delivering excellent patient care. In this role, you will follow established standards and practices, as directed by the physician leader and governance. Your exceptional interpersonal skills will help create a supportive environment for our patients.

Snapshot of Day-to-Day Tasks as Patient Care Coordinator/Medical Assistant with Express Health Urgent Care:

- Warmly greet and check-in patients at the center

- Initiate the clinical record by collecting intake information from new patients

- Collect and record billing and insurance details from patients

- Perform clerical duties, such as answering phones, taking messages, filing, and data entry

- Notify clinicians of waiting for patients as appropriate

- Escort patients to medical treatment rooms and prepare them for examination

- Record medical histories, chief complaints, vital signs, and treatment information

- Assist physicians in patient care and management of medical emergencies

- Maintain cleanliness of medical treatment rooms, ensuring they are ready for the next patient

- Manage inventory of medical supplies and equipment

- Conduct diagnostic tests, including eye exams, EKGs, pulse oximetry, and peak flow measurements

- Perform lab tests, draw and collect blood, label and process specimens for reference labs as per physician orders

- Administer both DOT and non-DOT urine drug screens, BAT, and hair drug testing, following proper chain of custody procedures

- Prepare samples for pick-up and shipment to appropriate laboratories

- Perform other duties as assigned by the nurse manager or practice administrator

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or GED, plus at least 1 year of experience in a medical or healthcare setting

- Strong computer skills, as various programs and websites will be utilized

- Bilingual candidates are preferred

- Additional 1 year of experience is desirable
