Position Summary:

Performs a wide variety of duties including clerical and clinical tasks as assigned. Checks supplies, equipment and provides general assistance to department as directed. Must have good communication skills and be customer service focused. Medical terminology helpful.

Responsibilities:

• Reviews and initiates x-ray requisition.
• Calls appropriate personnel to review discrepancies.
• Prints and reviews paperwork with patients and instructs them to update information.
• Obtains necessary patient consent for treatment.
• Properly identifies and prepares patients for examinations, answers or refers to appropriate personnel.
• Performs a variety of technical and non-technical duties to assist in the care and treatment of patients of all ages, newborn through geriatric.
• Assists patients to/from x-ray table and assists in positioning patients on x-ray table as needed.
• Accepts patients and assesses their condition to determine proper handling and special requirements.
• Coordinates work to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency during assigned shift. Contributes to other areas in the department and hospital.
• Shows ability to recognize and deal with priorities. Adjusts and revises workload as necessary in view of stat orders, emergencies, walk-ins and fluctuations in patient workload.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/APTITUDE/EXPERIENCE:

Additional experience in patient care setting helpful, i.e. medical assistant, certified nursing assistant. Good oral & written communication skills.
