What Causes Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

Compression of the median nerve can cause hand pain and or numbness, loss of grip strength, and eventually muscle atrophy. Causes of this compression can be due to accumulative trauma or another name is repetitive trauma to the wrists, poor workstation set-up, and/or joint dysfunction of the wrist and/or neck.

What Should I Expect from Physical Rehabilitation Therapy?

Depending on your injury or condition, your treatment plan will likely include some combination of the following:

Active or assistive range of motion exercises.
Strengthening exercises.
Flexibility exercises.
Balance and coordination exercises.
Posture training and correction.
Gait training and correction.
Activities of daily living exercises.
Massage therapy and soft tissue mobilization.
Pain management, using heat, cryotherapy (cold therapy), or electric stimulation.
