Antigen tests can be performed using a nasal swab or an anterior nasal swab, which is inserted a shorter distance into the nostril. Results are typically available within minutes, making them a convenient option for quick turnaround. However, antigen tests might be less accurate than PCR tests, especially in the early stages of infection or for individuals with no symptoms. It's important to note that a negative rapid antigen test might not definitively rule out COVID-19, and a confirmatory PCR test might be recommended in certain situations.
