My experience with Phoenix Unified Surgeons has been outstanding. I have had some major health issues over the last 8 years causing me to have seen many doctors. I couldn't be happier with the care that I have received from this practice. My experience has been perfect. In October 2024, Dr. Fox-McClary, with an assist by Dr. Brizendine, performed my colon resection, appendectomy, and splenic flexure mobilization. Things couldn't have gone better. Dr. McClary used the DiVinci Xi robot for the surgery, which I believe lessened suffering after the surgery, assisted with quicker healing time and possibly helped to prevent the need for a colostomy bag. I am not a doctor, so I cannot attest to this 100%- but I do know that other sugeons I saw prior to choosing Dr. McClary, who did not perform robotic surgery, were pretty convinced that I would need a colostomy bag, at least temporarily. They even planned for me to visit the hospital prior to surgery to mark a location for the bag placement. This was not the case with Dr. McClary, and, I fortunately did not need a bag. Both surgeons took ample time, pre- and post- op, to answer questions and explain everything clearly. Dr. McClary gave me a very thorough, yet understandable breifing of why I needed the surgery, what to expect with the surgery, and possible complications. She explained how the complications would be mitigated, and, in the event any occured, how she would deal with them. Fortunately, everything went great and none of this was needed. I also want to give a shout out to the staff in the office. They are always very friendly and helpful. Last, but definitely not least, the surgery scheduler, Gina, was truly outstanding. Due to her persistentance and willingness to put forth a huge effort, I was able to get the surgery very quickly and in the hospital system I needed. She voluntarily went above and beyond her job requirements (even working after hours) to find a quick opening in the hospital system I needed, coordinating the operating room times with surgeons schedules, and obtaining prior authorization from the insurance company, all in record time. She did an excellent job of communicating the status of these things with me, and kept me well informed. These actions allowed me to have surgery very quickly. Without her exceptional work ethic, surgery probably wouldn't have happened for weeks and I probably would've ended up in the ER and had another hospital admission prior to my surgery. Fortunately, that was averted. Obviously, if I could give Dr. McClary and her team more than 5 stars I would, and would highly recommend her or Dr. Brizendine for any procedure needed. They really made a horrible, stressful situation not so bad.

Know how your loved one is in the hospital and you suddenly have to do all their stuff at home PLUS yours but you’re stressing about being there when the Doctor shows up so you can know exactly what is going to happen and plan accordingly? But invariably the Doctor shows up after you left to take care of other things? Dr Randolph showed up when I wasn’t there but she asked my husband to call me and she spoke with both of us together. She saved me from spending hours having to track down nurses to find out what I missed and with that simple solution she stole both of our hearts. She gets it. Everything else she did was great too and the follow up appointments were close to home.
