How Does Failed Back Surgery Syndrome Affect Quality of Life?
Failed Back Surgery Syndrome (FBSS) can significantly impact a person’s quality of life due to persistent or worsening pain after surgery. For many individuals, the original surgery was performed to alleviate chronic back pain or discomfort, and when the surgery does not achieve the desired results, the individual may experience ongoing functional impairment. Pain, limited mobility, and inability to perform daily activities such as sitting, walking, or bending over can be emotionally and physically draining. In addition to the physical challenges, people with FBSS often experience psychological distress, including depression, anxiety, and frustration, which can further diminish their quality of life.
