What Triggers Lymphedema?

The main triggers of lymphedema involves obstruction of microscopic channels that carry and pump fluid from the extremities back into the chest and bloodstream. Some people are born with swelling in the extremities because of lymphedema, and others develop it much later in life. Lymphedema commonly affects the legs and arms; however, it can also occur in the neck, abdomen, genitals, and even the chest wall.
